The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, disclosed on Friday that notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has expressed his willingness to surrender.

With his second-in-command and several lieutenants recently eliminated by military forces, Turji has been forced to release many of his followers. This development signals a potential shift in his stance as he considers laying down arms.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, General Musa explained, “We have taken out his second in command and most of his lieutenants. He is now saying he is ready to surrender.”

Despite this declaration, the Defence Chief reiterated that anyone involved in killing innocent civilians must not be spared.

“Anyone who has killed should face justice. People like him cannot be allowed to stay,” General Musa asserted.

The military’s sustained operations, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have recently neutralised key figures within Turji’s group, including his second-in-command and other close allies.

According to a statement by Defence Director Edward Buba, additional commanders and over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp have been neutralised during operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
