The Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency (BSEQAA) has instructed school principals across the state to promptly reimburse SS3 students for any surplus handling charges paid for WAEC/NECO.
The agency’s Director-General, Dr. Francis Terna, issued the directive during his Thursday visit to schools in Makurdi, the state capital.
Reports state that Terna interacted with SS3 students in the visited schools to verify the amounts they had paid for WAEC and NECO examination fees.
Upon verification of the information, he mandated the school principals to promptly reimburse students for any overcharged fees.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the approved handling charges of N5000 per student across all schools.
The Director-General cautioned against engaging in unethical practices, warning that non-compliance with the government’s directive would result in appropriate sanctions.
Terna affirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining elevated educational standards and fostering academic excellence.
He mentioned that the agency will persist in conducting impromptu visits to schools to monitor their activities.
He reiterated the government’s instruction to refrain from admitting any SS3 students during the second term to prevent disruptions to the academic schedule.
Additionally, the BSEQAA head examined form masters’ registers, schemes, records of work, and lesson plans.
The inspected schools comprised RCM Primary School in Tiosha, UBE Junior Secondary School on Naka Road, NKST Secondary School on Naka Road, and Mount Carmel College in Makurdi.
