Boat capsizes in Katsina, 15 died

15 people were killed when a boat capsized near a river site in Katsina State’s Mai’adua Local Government Area.

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday when the canoe carrying an undisclosed number of passengers capsized, effectively killing fifteen people on board.

To this end, funeral prayers for the victims were held on Thursday at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Tsabu town in the state’s Mai’adua LGA.

Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was among the dignitaries who attended the victims’ funeral service.

He took advantage of the opportunity to compensate the deceased’s families.
