Boko Haram militants have killed 14 farmers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force in various locations within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The two Civilian Joint Task Force members were reportedly ambushed in Sabon-Gari near Kirawa while returning from a routine patrol in their vehicle on Friday. Sources from Gwoza indicate that the terrorists set a trap for the volunteers and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two, while the driver managed to escape with injuries.

Meanwhile, the farmers lost their lives while heading to their fields on Saturday.

According to the Emir of Gwoza, Mohammed Idris Timta, the farmers ventured beyond the designated farming area and unfortunately encountered the terrorists. He noted that the farmers were not accompanied by the necessary security support.

The Emir revealed to Channels TV that initially, 10 bodies were recovered, with an additional four discovered on Sunday, bringing the total to 14.

He added that the attack occurred in a community located directly beneath the Mandara Mountains, between Pulka and Ngwoshe.
