Borno police get British Council’s COVID-19 items

The British Council has supplied COVID-19 items to the Nigerian Police Force’s Family Support Unit in three local government areas in Borno State as part of its Program Managing Conflict in Nigeria.

Team Leader of Managing Conflict in Nigeria, Aminu Buba, said the intervention is aimed at building systems to support the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in the state during the handover of the items at the Police Headquarters Maiduguri.

The products, according to Aminu, would strengthen family units in Maiduguri, Biu, and Mafa divisional stations to boost the state’s battle against sexual and gender-based violence.

“We are here to donate COVID-19 items for use in the three Family Support Units we have supported in establishing in the state, with one here in Maiduguri, the two others at Biu and Mafa Divisional Stations.

“We hope the items will add value to the services the police are providing to the people,” Buba said.

Responding, Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdu Umar, thanked British Council for the gesture and said that the items will go a long way to aid the process of investigation of sexual and gender-based violence of the command.

CP Umar assured that the command will make judicious use of the items and distribute the items as specified by the British Council to achieve the desired objectives.
