Information reaching Newsclick Nigeria on Monday afternoon has it that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has relieved the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako of his job with immediate effect.
Newsclick Nigeria gathered that the sack might not be unconnected to the incessant cases of building collapses across the state.
Newsclick Nigeria reports that just on Saturday, September 3, a building collapsed at the Oniru axis of the state.
Confirming the development, Commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotosho in statement on Monday said Governor Sanwo-Olu has accepted the resignation of the embattled Commissioner.
According to him, the development is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.
The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are,” the statement concluded.
