Pioneer President of the Association of Corporate Communications and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB), Mallam Kabir Dangogo is dead.
ACAMB is the umbrella association of marketing communications, public relations, media and creative professionals working in Nigeria’s banking sector,
According to a statement signed and released by his son, Ahmed, the globally renowned Public Relations (PR) died on Thursday, March 6, 2025 after a protracted illness.
“With a heavy heart, pain and sadness but total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the death of our father, uncle, boss, friend and associate, Mallam Kabir Dangogo which occurred on the night of March 6, 2025 after a protracted illness,” the statement reads in part.
He remains will be buried in Kaduna later today after Juma’at prayers in accordance with Islamic rites.
Dangogo aged 76 years, retired from Union Bank of Nigeria PLC in 2005 as an Assistant General manager and head of the Corporate Affairs Department.
He had transversed several companies and agencies in his working career as editor, lecturer, public relations manager, author, publisher, advertising agent, and adviser on corporate and reputation management.
“Reacting to the PR guru’s demise, President of ACAMB, Rasheed Bolarinwa on behalf of the Association said Dangogo was a great man and should be celebrated.
He was a great man and should be celebrated. We take solace in the fact that ACAMB Stood by the family all through his ill-health but Allah knows best for taking him at this time. And his legacy lives on,” Bolarinwa said.
Recall that ACAMB had in February 2022 celebrated the late Dangogo on his 73rd birthday anniversary.
In a congratulatory and goodwill message to Dangogo, ACAMB eulogised him as the doyen of public relations in Nigeria, one of the most-celebrated communication strategists, a through-bred professional and an astute manager whose brilliant exploits across the broad spectrum of communication are legendary and unparalleled.
‘‘Mallam Kabiru Dangogo is a living legend. He is and remains a respected and go-to authority on public relations as far as the theory and practice of financial public relations and reputation management as a discipline, is concerned, not only in Nigeria but globally.
During his decades of professional practice, he made indelible contributions and footprints on the broad spectrum of communications and the banking industry and made his way to the Senior management team,” the Association said in a statement.
