Mr Mahdi Gusau, the state’s Deputy Governor, has been impeached by lawmakers in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
Mr Gusau was impeached in plenary on Wednesday, immediately after the House got the report of the committee appointed by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to look into the charges against him.
The State House of Assembly has received the findings of the seven-member panel set up to investigate the alleged impeachable offenses against the deputy governor, led by retired Justice Halidu Soba.
Nasiru Mua’zu, Speaker of the House, received Justice Soba’s findings at the Assembly complex in Gusau, the state capital.
Oladipo Okpeseyi, a member of the panel, notified the Speaker that the committee completed its assignment with the utmost integrity.
