Mr Samuel Waldock, the British High Commissioner for Governance and Security, said in Makurdi on Tuesday that the Commission would partner with Benue to tackle insecurity.
Waldock told Gov. Samuel Ortom whom he visited that the Commission had keenly observed security challenges bedevilling Benue and was interested in knowing how the state was tackling it.
“We are here to have first-hand information about the security issue confronting the state and how we can partner to ensure peace.
“We have a long partnership with Benue and want to keep it going.
“The 2023 election is fast approaching and we want to see how things are going,’’ he said.
Responding, Ortom lamented that Benue people were facing a big humanitarian problem because of insecurity.
The governor pointed out that the North Central zone of the country should be given humanitarian support just as the North-eastern part of the country was getting.
“We also appeal for partnership in the area of agriculture, especially in high technological agricultural advancement.
“In 2023, Nigerians should rise and do the right thing,’’ the governor said.
