Three new Permanent Secretaries of the Federal Civil Service received the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office from President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.

Shortly before the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday began in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Buhari administered the oath of office to the new senior executives.

They consist of Udom Ekenam, Lydia Jafiya, and Farouk Yabo, all of Sokoto State (Akwa Ibom).

Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the head of the federal civil service, and Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), the national security adviser, were all present at the meeting.

Ministers in attendance include Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello.

Others are the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo; Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Ali Pantami; Power, Abubakar Aliyu; Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige; and that of Human Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo attended the meeting from his home, as did all other Council members who were not present in person.

Osinbajo underwent surgery on his right femur (thigh bone) due to an injury he got while playing squash, and he was only recently released from the Duchess International Hospital.

Osinbajo was only released after completing “physiotherapy and a smooth rehabilitation,” according to a statement written by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, and “will continue recuperating in the next few days.”

The vice president came to this week’s meeting from Aguda House, his official house.
