The Corporate Affairs Commission has rolled out new mandatory requirements for all online business name update applications, with the changes taking effect immediately.
In a statement shared on its X account on Wednesday, the commission said applicants will now need to submit extra personal and contact information to improve verification procedures and ensure more accurate business records.
“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.
The commission explained that the updated requirements are part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving documentation integrity, preventing fraud, and ensuring seamless communication with business proprietors.
By mandating these details, the CAC expects to streamline its database, ease compliance checks, and provide more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.
The commission urged proprietors to comply with the updated guidelines to avoid delays in processing their requests.
The CAC is Nigeria’s regulatory authority responsible for the registration and management of companies and business names.
Over the years, the commission has been modernising its processes, moving from manual systems to a more efficient online platform to ease registration and updates for businesses across the country.
