CAC uncovers 189 fake companies used in securing land allocation in FCT

The Registrar General of Cooperate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Magaji (SAN) on Tuesday disclosed that about 189 fake companies were used in securing land allocation in Federal Capital Territory.

Magaji made this revelation while briefing the press in Abuja on his efforts to bring the Commission forward.

He said, “One of the milestone achievements we have made so far in one week, was to raid a cartel and criminals causing havoc to the Commission.

“The nature of their crime, they create fake entities and apply for land at the FCT and manoeuvre their way to have a priority application over an existing allocation in order to take over the land.

” we will make sure, we actualise the objective of the mandate by collaborating with some lawyers.

” We have also Identify untapped areas. For instance any company that fails to pay annual returns as of when due, by virtue of section 8 of CAMA, CAC has the power to go after the directors to settle the dues. It won’t stop at delisting the company,

The commission has powers for instance where the companies fail to comply with the requirements of law in displaying their signpost should reflect their RC number, the company can be penalized and revenue can be generated

The renewed hope agenda comes with agenda which CAC wants to widen revenue base of the nation

With Existing CAMA we have the plan of exploiting available means to revenue generation Committees has been constituted and we think. These are one of the areas under this renewed hope agenda.

Magaji who spoke on the welfare of the staff, saying that, the welfare of the staffs is what has been lingering in the Commission. There is need for use to urgently address that immediately.
