CAF delists Nigeria, Libya AFCON qualifier amidst controversy

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the Group D second-leg match of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights from its schedule.

CAF released an updated fixture list on its X handle on Tuesday, but the Libya vs. Nigeria game was noticeably absent.

The match was initially set to take place in Libya at 8 pm on Tuesday, following the first leg, which was held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

In the first leg, the Super Eagles secured a last-minute 1-0 victory over the Mediterranean Knights.

The return leg has been surrounded by controversy after Super Eagles players and officials recounted their 14-hour ordeal at a Libyan airport, which led them to return home.
