The number of cholera cases in Ogun State has reached 19, according to Commissioner of Health Dr Tomi Coker.
This comes less than a week after cholera claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-North LGA.
The woman died while caring for her infected child, who is among those hospitalised.
Coker told media that there were 19 cases recorded in the state.
Coker said the cases were found in five local governments – Sagamu, Ado/Odo/Ota, Remo North, Ijebu North and Odeda.
The Commissioner said the first cases visited Lagos State and had contact with infected persons.
She said vigorous sensitisation on safety measures such as constant hand washing with soap, proper sanitation and quick presentation of suspected cases to public health facilities to prevent both the spread and adverse consequence.
