The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Friday called on Nigerians to continue praying for President Bola Tinubu, emphasising that he has the country’s best interests at heart.
He made this statement at the launch of the six-lane Arterial Road N5 construction, also known as Obafemi Awolowo Way, in Life Camp, Abuja.
Wike said, “I urge everyone to keep praying for Mr President so that, in the end, we can restore the hope that our people have lost – that’s what the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is about.
“This government aims to revive the hope that has diminished. I am certain that those living here never believed this road would ever be repaired. The President said, ‘No, there is nothing that cannot be achieved.’”
The minister noted that all ongoing projects in the nation’s capital are due to President Tinubu’s approvals.
He also urged all Nigerians to continue supporting the current administration to enable it to fulfil its campaign promises.
“We thank God that Mr President, in his wisdom, has ensured that development continues in the FCT by expanding our financial capacity,” he added.
“Today, you see contracts for new schools, additional police stations to ensure our safety – all possible due to the President’s approval,” he noted.
The minister highlighted that the new road would create jobs, stabilise food prices, and uplift the local economy.
He urged Julius Berger Nigeria, the contractor, to aim for completion within 14 months, ahead of the original 18-month timeframe, promising further contracts if they succeed.
The Arterial Road N5 project forms part of a larger initiative to enhance the FCT’s infrastructure, aiming to make Abuja a more accessible and economically dynamic city.
