Several corps members in Ekiti State sustained injuries following the collapse of a wall in one of the hostels at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure.

The incident, which occurred on Friday morning, affected the women’s section of the hostel, as confirmed by sources at the camp.

One of the sources said, “Yes, the wall of one of the female hostels collapsed this morning (Friday). It was the bathroom wall which caved in when they were planning to take their bath.

“But thank God, people rushed down there to retrieve them from the rubble. They have been stabilized at the clinic and they will get further medical treatments.”

The corps members are currently undergoing the mandatory three-week orientation exercise at the camp.

An NYSC official confirmed the incident, stating that only two corps members were affected and have since been stabilized at the camp’s clinic. He urged parents, guardians, and stakeholders not to panic, assuring them that the situation did not have a serious negative impact on the corps members.

Despite repeated concerns over the poor conditions of structures in the NYSC camp in Ekiti State, adequate renovations have yet to be undertaken.
