Stephen Oronsaye, a former Head of Service of the federation, has been released and cleared of the N2 billion fraud accusation that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had brought against him.
In 2015, Oronsaye and Osarenkhoe Afe, the managing director of Frederick Hamilton Global Services Limited, were charged with corruption.
They were charged with employing two businesses, Xangee Technologies Limited and Frederick Hamilton Global Services Limited, for questionable biometric enrollment in the N2 billion fraud.
But in its decision on Monday, the court cleared Oronsaye of the accusations made against him by the anti-graft organisation.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja in his judgment held that the prosecution failed to provide enough evidence to warrant a conviction.
The court held that no credible evidence was presented by the 21 witnesses called by the EFCC.
