Justice Nyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has officially affirmed the authenticity of Governor Peter Mba’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, affirming that it was duly issued by the NYSC.
During the judgment delivered on Monday, Justice Ekwo noted that the evidence presented in court established that the governor, although initially mobilized for service in 2001, successfully completed it in 2003.
The court further explained that Governor Mba, during his service, had obtained permission from the NYSC to attend the Nigeria Law School, after which he was reinstated into the NYSC in 2003.
Justice Ekwo further noted that the proof of Governor Mbah’s service at Mr. Udeh’s law firm was uncontested by the NYSC. He criticized the corps for failing to file forgery charges against the governor if they genuinely doubted the authenticity of the NYSC certificate in question.
He ultimately determined that the NYSC had acted deceptively and in bad faith by denying Governor Mbah’s NYSC certificate.
The court, having established the guilt of the Director General and the NYSC in misrepresenting important information, subsequently ordered them to pay damages amounting to N5 million.
