Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has approved the request of Tukur Mamu, the alleged terrorist negotiator, to have access to his personal physician due to reported deteriorating health conditions.
In a ruling, Justice Ekwo directed that Tukur Mamu should be allowed access to his medical doctor for treatment, under the supervision of the Department of State Service’s team of physicians.
Justice Ekwo, concurring with Mamu’s counsel, Johnson Usman, inquired from the Federal Government’s lawyer, David Kaswe, whether the defendant was entitled to his personal physician, to which he affirmed.
The case has been adjourned to February 26 to 28, 2024, for the continuation of the trial. Mamu is facing charges related to his alleged association with terrorists involved in the 2022 Kaduna-bound train attack. He was apprehended on September 6, 2022, by Interpol in Cairo, Egypt, on behalf of the Nigerian Government.
