A Magistrate Court in Owerri has found three individuals—Ikechukwu Nwosu, Ogechi Osuji and Edwin Iheanato—guilty of improper waste disposal in the Hardel Orji District of the city.

The court ruled that the defendants breached established sanitation and waste management regulations in the area.

During the trial, all three admitted to the offences after due process, in line with the provisions of the Eastern Waste Management Corporation Law No. 2 of 2025 and other applicable state sanitation laws governing refuse disposal.

Consequently, the defendants were convicted and sentenced by the court to three months’ imprisonment or a fine of ₦50,000 each, as ordered by the Magistrate.
