A 13-year-old boy was detained in a Borstal Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter.
Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, the Chief Magistrate, declined to accept the plea of the minor.
Instead, she directed for his remand in the Borstal Correctional Center until April 17, awaiting legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The boy was accused of defilement. He was a student who lived in Oshodi, Lagos, with his parents.
Earlier, ASP Raji Akeem, the prosecution’s attorney, informed the court that the offence was carried out at the defendant’s home in January 2024.
According to Akeem, the child violated the six-year-old girl who lived next door by luring her into his room when their parents were away.
The prosecutor claimed that the offence violated section 210 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
