A Magistrate’s Court in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, has handed down six-month jail terms to eight individuals found guilty of phone snatching and related offences.
The suspects were arrested earlier on Thursday during an early-morning raid conducted by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) near the Mile 2 pedestrian bridge, an area long associated with frequent phone-snatching activities.
Those convicted include: Anthony Osinachi (21), Victor Onuoha (45), Rowland Ede (25), Daniel Chisom (24), Emmanuel Chukwu (35), Ogbonnaya Uchechi (18), Godday Eke (28), and Benjamin G. (30).
They were subsequently arraigned before the Bolade Magistrate Court, where they all pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court thereafter sentenced each of them to six months’ imprisonment.
