A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State’s capital, ruled on Friday that the October 15 local government elections conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission were invalid.

In his decision, Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel stated that the election was held in violation of Sections 29 and 32 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

The Peoples Democratic Party had petitioned the court to prevent OSIEC from holding the planned elections.

Other respondents in the matter include INEC, APC and its then chairman, Adeboyega Famoodun.
