Court postpones PIDOM’s bail application hearing

A Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, has rescheduled the hearing of whistleblower Isaac Bristol’s bail application to September 17, 2024.

The hearing was originally set for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, but was postponed. Despite the appearance of the defendant, represented by his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, the judge did not hear the bail application as planned.

Isaac Bristol, also known as PIDOM, is facing charges of alleged terrorism, money laundering, cybercrime, and unlawful access to classified documents. His arrest took place on August 5, 2024, in a hotel room in Rivers State.

According to Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Bristol was apprehended for “committing serious offences that undermine the integrity of government operations.” The police statement further outlined multiple allegations, including the unlawful possession and leaking of classified documents, as well as cyber-related crimes.

Additionally, the police have identified journalist David Hundeyin and an individual named Michael Alade as Bristol’s accomplices.
