A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 40-year-old man, Adedeji Victor Olusola, over his alleged involvement in a N100 million fraud case.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, informed the court that the defendant is being investigated for offences bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.
Adeniyi stated that the suspect allegedly defrauded Adedayo Olumuyiwa and 11 others of N100 million within the Ado-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti Magisterial Districts between January and February 2026.
He added that the alleged offences contravene provisions of Section 329 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, as well as Sections 1(3) and 11 of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant to allow for the completion of ongoing investigations and subsequent arraignment at the Federal High Court.
However, the defendant, represented by his counsel Adunni Olanipekun, did not take a plea during the proceedings.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in correctional custody.
The case was adjourned until April 23 for mention.
