Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail earlier granted to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore.
The court made the decision on Tuesday after Sowore failed to appear for the continuation of his trial.
At the proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Kehinde Akinlolu, SAN, informed the court that Sowore was absent despite having prior knowledge of the scheduled hearing.
Akinlolu prayed the court for the revocation of Sowore’s bail for his failure to appear in court and his alleged continuous move to delay his trial.
Justice Umar acknowledged that although Sowore had sent a letter seeking an adjournment by the court, he did not state any reason for such adjournment in the letter.
