The Ogun State government has lifted the curfew on movement in Sagamu town, which was imposed in response to deadly clashes between rival cult groups last month.

In a statement issued by Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), it was revealed that the decision to lift the curfew in the previously troubled town was influenced by the enhanced security situation.

Talabi affirmed that tranquility has been restored to the town. He also mentioned that security authorities are actively probing both the underlying and immediate causes of the recent cult clashes. Additionally, he emphasized Governor Dapo Abiodun’s dedication to eliminating all forms of violence in the state.

Talabi encouraged the residents of Sagamu to resume their daily routines confidently, assuring them that sufficient security measures are still in place despite the curfew being lifted. The curfew, which restricted both pedestrian and vehicular movement between 7pm and 6am, was swiftly enforced last month in direct response to the cult-related incidents.
