Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his recent visit to the state, during which several major infrastructure projects were commissioned.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Abiodun revealed that he presented the President with a ceremonial sword as a symbolic gesture.

“Yesterday, I had the honour and privilege to visit and thank the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, for the historic visit to Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Airport, Gateway Airlines, welcome the first cargo airline, and other landmark projects,” he stated.

The governor explained that presenting the sword was connected to Tinubu’s traditional title and leadership role, encouraging him to continue tackling national challenges.

“I presented him with a ceremonial sword in his esteemed capacity as the Jagaban (leader of warriors/conquerors), urging him to continue his war on crime and criminality, anti-corruption, and particularly as he embarks on the second-term re-election,” Abiodun added.

He also reiterated the state’s political backing for the President.

“Assuring him that in Ogun State, we are solidly behind him,” he said.

Tinubu visited Ogun State on Saturday to commission the Gateway International Airport in Iperu and unveil the state-owned airline, Gateway Air. This event marked a key milestone in the state’s infrastructure development, expected to enhance transportation, logistics, and economic activity in the region.

The commissioning ceremony, broadcast live, also highlighted the cooperation between federal and state governments in promoting development initiatives. The President is scheduled to inspect and commission additional projects in sectors such as transportation, energy, agriculture, and security to further stimulate economic growth in the state.
