Delta: Fire engulfs building in Asaba

Properties worth millions of naira have been consumed by an early morning fire that engulfed a storey building in the Umuagu area of Asaba, the Delta State capital.

According to reports, the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, while the occupants and other residents in the area were fast asleep.

The heat of the fire awoke them, and they watched helplessly as the inferno consumed their belongings.

The damage could have been much worse if firefighters from the state and federal fire services had not intervened.

As of the time of filing this report, it was unknown whether any lives had been lost, and the cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
