Diaspora group to support FG on youths employment

The Nigeria Diaspora Network (NDN) said it would support the Federal Government in training the youths to become self-employed.

The Financial Director of NDN, Mr Samuel lyapo, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

Iyapo said the body was ready to work with the government in ensuring that the youths are gainfully engaged.

He said plans were on the way to sensitise the youths through workshops, financial support and other programmes on how to be self-reliant.

Iyapo said such efforts would go a long way to reducing the economic and security challenges facing the country.

“The NDN is a group of Nigerian professionals in Diaspora working towards a transformed Nigeria.

“We are committed to advocating for good governance with the aim of sharing opinions to tackle pressing social, economic, democratic and cultural issues in Nigeria.

“The NDN is ready to partner with the government on how to engage the youths on self-employment,” he said.

He said as part of the efforts, the NDN and Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Americas (NIDOA) had agreed to organise a virtual youth summit to drive transformational impact and positive change in the country.

He said that the summit, scheduled to take place on April 9, is titled: “Youth and National Development in Nigeria.”

He said the group was ready to back the government’s agricultural programme of provision of soft monitored loans for agric practice in each local government areas of the country.

Iyapo, who said the NDN was neither a political group nor interested in supporting any candidate in the 2023 General Elections, said their interest was how to ensure a free, fair and credible poll.
