The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has offered counsel to Nigerian children, urging them to steer clear of negative peer influences.

Oluremi Tinubu delivered this message in Abuja on Friday during the launch of the distribution of exercise books to public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students nationwide.

Emphasizing the critical importance of education, she affirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would persist in prioritizing it accordingly.

“Stay in school. Do not join bad gangs, and don’t succumb to peer pressure. We will do all we can for you to get a good life,” the President’s wife was quoted in a statement by her media aide Busola Kukoyi.

“There is nothing too much to do for our children.  We have started the distribution with Lagos State and today the wife of the Kogi State Governor will receive for her state.”

The First Lady encouraged the children to maintain their focus on their studies, assuring them that the current administration is committed to ensuring a bright future for them.

She announced that the distribution of exercise books would become an annual event organized through each State Universal Education Board.

This initiative, part of the Education Program of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), will provide 50,000 exercise books to each state of the federation, with Kano and Lagos states receiving 100,000 exercise books each due to their larger populations.

During the event, Hamid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), commended the First Lady for her initiative, highlighting the significance of writing materials in the education system. He noted that many State Universal Education Boards often overlook this crucial aspect.
