Canadian rapper Drake has staked a whopping $770,000 (over N1 billion) on Canada to beat South Africa in their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 showdown.

Drake disclosed the bet on social media, explaining that a message from South African DJ Black Coffee inspired the move.

“@realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise my stakes,” Drake wrote.

The Grammy-winning star posted details of the wager, made through Stake, with a potential return of $1,001,000 if Canada overcomes South Africa.

The big-money bet has generated even more buzz around the Round of 32 meeting, with supporters from both nations responding to Drake’s faith in the Canadian team.

The fixture is among the most anticipated in the knockout rounds, with the victorious side securing a place in the Round of 16.
