Driver dies, others injured as bus rams into truck in Ogun

A luxury bus transporting 11 children collided with a truck at the Carpark C U-Turn section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the immediate death of the bus driver.

Additionally, 18 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity in the incident.

The accident involved a fully loaded Scania truck with registration number KSF 491 YD and a Mercedes-Benz Marcopolo high-capacity luxury bus.

The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists in Abeokuta over the weekend.

Akinbiyi said that 68 occupants (35 male, 22 female), including 11 children, were involved in the auto crash, which left the driver dead and 18 ( 10 male and eight female) others injured.

He said that the driver of the Marcopolo Bus lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and rammed into the Scania truck.

The TRACE PRO stated that it took the combined efforts of the police, TRACE, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Amotekun officers to rescue the victims and bring the situation under control.
