Driver dies, three injured in Ogun auto crash

A road accident at Oju-Ore, along Idiroko Road in the Ota area of Ogun State, claimed the life of a driver, identified as Bello Lukman, and left three pedestrians injured.

On Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the accident occurred around 8:45 pm on Monday, while Lukman was attempting to properly park his vehicle.

The pedestrians involved in the incident were identified as 26-year-old Ojo Isaac, Ladan Musa Moses, and Tunde Adio.

According to the report, Lukman, driving a Honda shuttle car with the license plate TTD 537 AE, had parked at the roadside and was trying to reposition the vehicle when he lost control of the steering and struck the pedestrians standing nearby.

The injured pedestrians were quickly taken to the State Hospital in Ota for emergency treatment.

Odutola added, “Tragically, Ojo Isaac passed away while receiving medical care. His death was confirmed by the attending doctor, and his body has been transferred to the mortuary at General Hospital, Ifo, for an autopsy.”

She also noted that the accident scene had been inspected, a rough sketch drawn, photographs taken, and the vehicle recovered for inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO). Investigations are ongoing.
