DSS breaks silence on alleged invasion of CBN Headquarters in Abuja after Emefiele’s return

The Department of State Services (DSS), has denied rumours making the rounds that its operatives invaded the  Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

NewsClick Nigeria reports that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele resumed work on Monday after completion of his annual leave abroad.

The reports claim the DSS operatives condoned the apex bank Governor’s office following his resumption on Monday.

However, in a swift clarification to the viral reports, the Public Relations Director of the Service, Peter Afunaya in a statement said the report is as fake and misleading.

Afunaya in a statement titled CBN, NOT INVADED BY DSS made available to Journalists reads; “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23. This is fake news and quite misleading.
