Easter: FRSC deploys 1,416 personnel, 72 operational vehicles in Lagos

The Corps Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector, Mr Babatunde Farinloye, says the command has deployed 1,416  personnel and 72 operational vehicles to ensure the safety of motorists  during the 2023  Easter break.
Farinloye said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said that the 1,416 personnel include regular and special Marshals, while the 72 vehicles were in place to ease movement during the patrol within Lagos.
Farinloye said that two trucks would be  available for prompt removal of any obstruction during this period.
“We are also organising mobile court to prosecute erring traffic offenders”, he said, adding that the corps had mobilised its men to check drivers driving under the influence of alcohol.
” We are not working in isolation, we are working with some other critical stakeholders, military, Immigration Services, Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Federal Fire Service, Ministry of Transportation, National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA),Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) among others.
“The collaboration with the other sister agencies during the Easter period is to ensure quick response in case on any emergency and crash
” We seek the cooperation of the motorists as well as community first respondents to assist, in case of any crash, with intelligence information to make the festival a huge success,” Farinloye said.
He assured motorists of a proper monitoring of the highways and outposts by FRSC officers who would man various traffic flash points as well as notorious areas within the state.
Farinloye said this would help to ensure ease of movement during the Easter celebration.
He said that the command would also be deploying five motorbikes and four ambulances to move around the streets of Lagos during the celebration.
The corps commander assured the motoring public of the FRSC’s renewed vigour to ensure safety on the roads, urging them to obey traffic laws.
Farinloye urged motorists to avoid drinking while driving, to stay alive and witness more celebrations.
He said that motorists should use roadworthy tyres to avoid accidents.(NAN)
