Easter: Taraba gov preaches peace, forgiveness

The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has exhorted local Christians to imitate Christ’s model life of humility and compassion, which was displayed through his death and resurrection.

The governor exhorted them to encourage repentance and harmony among the populace.

Ishaku remarked that Easter, which is celebrated all over the world, came with a significant lesson about sacrifice and forgiveness in his Easter message to the state’s citizens, which was signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan-Abu.

The message read, “There can only be peace among our people and communities if we all resolve to forgive one another and make concessions on issues that tend to generate conflicts and crises among them.

“I am happy that my mantra of ‘Give Me Peace and I will Give You Development’ has found firm roots in the minds of all Tarabans and I urge you to let the spirit of peace, love and forgiveness guide your attitudes, actions and relationship with your fellow men.”

Governor Ishaku asked for support for the upcoming Col. Agbu Kefas administration and announced that in a few weeks he would hand over control of the state to a new leader chosen by the people.

Ishaku pleaded with the people of the state not to interfere with the incoming administration while asserting that he would be leaving office as a contented and joyful individual who had successfully built a strong foundation on which successive occupants of the state’s highest office might develop.
