The 2024 Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to begin its inaugural and pre-hearing session, addressing petitions contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Monday Okpebholo, the APC Governorship candidate, as the winner of the September 21 governorship election.
As of this morning, there are seven petitions before the tribunal, including one filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
The PDP candidate finished second in the election, while the Labour Party’s candidate, Olumide Akpata, secured third place, according to the results declared by INEC on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
