The Edo Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Christopher Nehikhare has assured victims of land grabbing that the state government is committed to tackling the menace.
Nehikhare also assured people of the state that no stone would be left unturned in protecting their property.
The commissioner said this when he briefed newsmen in Benin over the weekend.
He urged individuals who had been defrauded along Irhirhi-Obazagbon-Ogheghe road to channel their complaints to the New Town Development Authority office at the site.
According to him, so far, about 202 persons have lodged complaints and their data have been documented.
“Victims of land grabbing need not fear arrest, as only those with reasonable land grabbing accusations will be apprehended. Every other person would be treated as victims. We are working on Saturdays to capture those who were unable to come for capture during the week.
“The order for cessation of all development/building activities in the area covered in the 1,229 hectares of land along the Irhiri-Obazagbon-Ogheghe road is still being enforced. The surveyors have provided coordinates to enable the team to commence repossession of portion C in the area,” he said.
Nehikhare restated the state government’s commitment to ending the menace to clean up the state for an effective and efficient land administration system to drive investment and development.
