EFCC cautions skit makers against using it’s items without proper authorization

The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) has issued a cautionary message to content creators, movie producers, and skit makers, urging them to refrain from using its materials without proper authorization.

EFCC in a tweet said it “has been drawn to the activities of content creators, movies and skit producers who use EFCC-branded Jackets, symbols, insignia and other accoutrements without authorization.

“Content creators, movies and skit producers who use EFCC-branded jackets, symbols, insignia and other accoutrements without authorization are enjoined to desist from doing so, going forward.”

The EFCC, which is the primary anti-corruption agency responsible for investigating and enforcing economic and financial crimes laws in Nigeria, concluded its public notice by sending a clear message to content creators: “A word is enough for the wise!”

Furthermore, the Commission emphasized that the unauthorized use of the EFCC brand in movies is illegal. This includes the need to review scenes that depict the operations of the Commission, ensuring that no false or misleading messages are conveyed to the public.

The EFCC stated that its Public Affairs Department is well-equipped to collaborate with filmmakers and skit creators who are interested in partnering with the Commission to produce films and skits aimed at educating the public, especially the youth, about the risks associated with economic and financial crimes.

However, the EFCC warned that anyone found disregarding this advisory will be treated as an impersonator and will face legal consequences.
