The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that Ufoma Immanuel, the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Chappal Energies, has been declared wanted.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the commission explained that Immanuel is being sought in connection with an alleged case involving obtaining money under false pretence and forgery.

According to the notice:
“The public is hereby notified that UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Obtaining Money by False Pretence and Forgery.”

The agency added that “Ufoma Immanuel is 46-year-old indigene of Edo State and his last known address is: 77, Nelson Mandela Street, Maitama Abuja.”

The EFCC has called on individuals with useful information to contact any of its offices nationwide, including locations in Uyo, Ibadan, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Sokoto, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.
Information can also be forwarded through the hotline 08093322644 or via email at [email protected].

Immanuel took over as managing director of Chappal Petroleum Development Company ‘Chappal’ in January 2021.
The company positions itself as an ESG-aligned, energy-focused firm dedicated to unlocking value in distressed brownfield upstream assets across the Niger Delta.

A founding partner of Chappal, Immanuel previously served as the head of corporate finance and strategy at Eroton Exploration and Production.

In September, a major transaction worth $860 million—the divestment of assets by TotalEnergies to Chappal Energies—fell through after Chappal failed to fulfil key financial requirements.
