Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has called on Muslims to pray for an end to insecurity both in the state and nationwide. In his Eid-el-Fitr message on Friday, he also urged the faithful to pray for leaders at all levels to be granted wisdom to govern justly and build an equitable society.
The appeal was issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim. Bago congratulated the Muslim Ummah on completing the Ramadan fast, highlighting it as a significant spiritual exercise and one of Islam’s pillars.
He commended Muslims for their dedication, perseverance, and resilience during Ramadan, urging them to continue practicing the lessons learned from the Holy Quran and Hadith. The governor encouraged the community to use Eid-el-Fitr to pray for peace and stability, stressing that addressing security challenges is key to economic growth and development. He also reaffirmed that the “New Niger Agenda” remains central to his administration’s vision for progress.
The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) joined in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, calling for unity and peaceful coexistence. Its chairman, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Yohanna, encouraged residents to maintain harmony across religious lines and prayed for divine guidance for the governor and other leaders.
Similarly, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, urged Muslims to uphold values that promote peace, unity, security, and the well-being of humanity. In his Eid message, Otti described the festival as a time not only for celebration but also for reflection on the spiritual significance of Ramadan.
He encouraged Muslims to renew their faith, strengthen their relationship with Allah, and embrace virtues that foster peace and unity in the country. Otti also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to religious freedom, ensuring that all faith groups in Abia State receive equal support as a foundation for peaceful coexistence. He concluded by wishing the Muslim community a joyous Eid-el-Fitr and praying for a brighter future for Nigeria.
