Achir Abraham, the commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Gombe State Command, announced the deployment of 780 personnel for strong security measures and crime prevention on Thursday.

The safety of those deployed would be maintained before, during, and after the Eid el-Fitr celebration in Gombe this year.

A press release issued by the command’s public relations officer, DSC Buhari Sa’ad, conveyed the Commandant’s announcement.

In order to ensure appropriate security of people and property, Abraham emphasised that personnel would be stationed on main routes, patrol teams, and surveillance squads to cover critical national assets, worship centres, recreation centres, marketplaces, motor parks, retail malls, and black spots throughout the state.

“780 personnel have been deployed for robust security arrangements and crime prevention for Eid celebration. On behalf of the entire officers and men, I heartily rejoice and felicitate with all Muslim faithful in the state as they celebrate this year’s Eid el-Fitr,” Abraham’s statement partly said.

He encouraged Muslim faithful to propagate peace, demonstrate love, forgiveness and tolerance irrespective of religious affiliation.

Abraham also enjoined members of the public to be security conscious and report any strange movement in their environment to security agencies, adding that “If you see something, say something.”
