The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, widely known as the Lagos State Task Force, has rolled out security and enforcement measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The agency said the operation would target black spots and other vulnerable locations across the state in a bid to curb environmental and traffic violations while ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for residents and visitors observing the Islamic festival.
Chairman of the Task Force, Adetayo Akerele, disclosed that operatives would concentrate on flashpoints, illegal motor parks, traffic-congested routes, criminal hideouts, and other identified trouble areas.
“We are fully prepared to ensure that Lagos residents enjoy a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration. Our personnel have been strategically positioned across the state to monitor activities, prevent crimes and respond swiftly to any security breach,” Akerele said.
He further noted that the agency would step up patrols against street trading, environmental offences, illegal parking, hooliganism, and other activities capable of threatening public safety or obstructing movement.
“As an agency charged with maintaining environmental sanity and enforcing public order, we remain committed to protecting lives and property before, during and after the festivities,” he added.
Akerele also cautioned criminals and anyone intending to disrupt public peace to steer clear of the state during the festive period.
According to him, the agency’s enforcement teams would sustain routine operations against traffic offenders, unlawful commercial activities, and environmental nuisance to maintain order across Lagos throughout the celebrations.
He also urged residents to stay alert, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious movements or activities within their communities to the appropriate authorities.
