Eid-el-Kabir: Police, NSCDC deploy officers nationwide
The Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have massively deployed officers nationwide through their state commands to ensure the safety and security of lives and property during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In Lagos State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, yesterday deployed operatives to strategic, vulnerable and notable places across the state for adequate security to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Alabi who also felicitated Muslim faithful on Eid-el-Kabir, directed all Area Commanders, DPOs, Tactical Commanders and Intelligence Officers to ensure that all areas were well covered.
He instructed the senior officers to deploy adequate human and operational resources to all strategic and vulnerable points across the state to forestall any form of breach of security.
Alabi charged the operatives to be professional, courteous but firm in the discharge of their duties before, during and after the celebration.
The commissioner said that the emplaced security architecture would be closely monitored and reviewed as required in a bid to sustain the existing peace in Lagos State.
Also, the Kaduna State Police Command yesterday deployed no fewer than 10,000 operatives.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna.
Jalige said that the command had made strategic security arrangements for this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebrations in the state.
He said that the arrangement was in line with the mandate and directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Usman, for public space to be dominated and secured.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna Command, Mr Yekini Ayoku, is calling on the general public to take their personal and family safety very seriously,” he said.
While urging the citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear of intimidation or harassment from any quarter, he said that they should report any suspicious object or person through the command’s emergency contacts: 07039675856 and 08075391105 for prompt action.
