Eight arraigned for assaulting KAI official in Lagos

Eight persons have been brought before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court in Bolade-Oshodi over the alleged assault of an officer of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI).

Those arraigned include Ibiwunmi Oladunjoye (30), Sikiru Oyelami (45), Aja Daniel (29), Sanusi Abayomi (31), Timothy Emmanuel (22), Ajoke Adegoke (24), Ridwan Adeshina (30), and Sulaimon Akinbola (28).

The defendants were charged in relation to an attack on KAI officials at No. 134 Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, during a joint enforcement operation at Yakoyo Abula Restaurants.

They are facing five counts, including conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, conspiracy to commit a felony, inflicting grievous bodily harm on seven KAI officers with dangerous weapons, unlawful possession of a cutlass, and attempted murder of officers while performing their official duties.

All eight pleaded not guilty and were remanded in a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, with the matter adjourned until January 28, 2026.
