The Senate on Tuesday suspended all legislative activities to honour the deceased Ekene Adams.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced Adam’s death during plenary.
The Senate observed a minute silence in his honour and thereafter adjourned legislative activities for the day.
Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi expressed grief over the Adam’s death.
The deceased was elected to the House of Representatives in the Labour Party (LP).
On his X handle yesterday, Obi said: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Hon. Ekene Adams, a member of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives from Kaduna State. My heartfelt condolences go to his wife, family, and loved ones. His untimely death at the age of 39 is a tragic loss to the country.
“May Almighty who called him home at this time, forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, and all of us, the fortitude to bear his sad irreplaceable loss.”
National Chairman of the Labour Party Julius Abure, in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, said: “Though he was barely one year in office, his impact in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and the entire Kaduna State was huge. Just few months ago, he donated transformers, cars and motorcycles to communities and individuals within his constituency, and also empowered all the ward chairmen and several women across political divides. These philanthropic gestures, he told me, was in fulfillment of his campaign promises.
