Ekiti APC members protest consensus Gov Candidate

Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ekiti State staged a protest at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

The demonstrators, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to conduct a proper governorship primary ahead of the 2026 elections.

They voiced their opposition to what they described as an attempt to impose a consensus candidate in the state. Placards displayed messages such as “We don’t want consensus,” “Women say no to consensus candidate in Ekiti,” and “Disqualification is political harassment.”

The protesters argued that adopting a consensus arrangement would deliberately prevent other aspirants from contesting for the governorship ticket.

Security personnel were present to maintain order during the demonstration.
