Ekiti East Bye-Election Violence: Police woman, Bukola laid to rest amidst tears

The remains of the late Police woman, Bukola Olawoye- Ogundeji, one of the four persons killed by political thugs during the suspended Ekiti East bye election into the Ekiti State House of Assembly in Omuo Ekiti, were laid to rest on Wednesday at her country home, Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Remains of the deceased police woman were brought into Ikere Ekiti in police ambulance from Ido Ekiti State Federal Teaching Hospital morgue, amidst tears and wailings from family members and colleagues.
Her husband, Ignatius Ogundeji and elder brother, Olalekan Olawoye who lamented the sudden demise of Bukola, appealed to the police authority and Ekiti State government to draw out plans for the welfare and education of the two children the deceased left behind.
Bukola’s adopted mother, Madam Alice Elemoso and her Biological mother, Omolayo Olawoye who refused to be consoled by sympathisers, confessed that they have lost a precious daughter whose position will be difficult to fill.
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo who was represented at the occasion by one of his senior officers, Obabusayo Adekunle, promised that the police and Ekiti State government will soon announce the package meant for the deceased’s children and her aged parents.
Hundreds of residents of Ikere were not left out as they trooped out to honour and pay their last respects for their fallen heroin.
The 33-year Bukola after a short church service in Ikere Ekiti was later committed to the mother earth, on her land where she was erecting a building before her sudden death
Late Stella Bukola Olawoye-Ogundeji was three years old when she left Kaduna State to Ikere in Ekiti State. She followed her mother’s senior sister, Prophetess Alice Elemosho down to Ikere-Ekiti.
Little Bukola was enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force on November 1st, 2008 at the Police College, Ikeja in Lagos State and was promoted to the rank of Corporal on July 1st , 2014 before being promoted to Sergeant on February 1st, 2018.
The young promising Bukola Olawoye met her untimely death while on active service at the polling unit nine, ward seven on March 20 during the Ekiti East bye election into the State House of Assembly in Omuo Ekiti.
