Ekiti Gov signs N159.5bn 2024 budget into law

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Wednesday, signed into law the 2024 appropriation Bill, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to effectively execute the budget to achieve the shared prosperity goals.

The 2024 Appropriation, titled the ‘Budget of Sustainable Growth and Development,’ was presented to the governor in the Exco Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti, by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, and other principal officers.

The budget for 2024 amounts to N159,572,481,915.51, with 56% allocated to Recurrent Expenditure and 44% to Capital Expenditure.

While signing the budget, Oyebanji emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the full implementation of the budget, aiming to drive sustainable growth and enhance the standard of living for the people of Ekiti State.

He expressed the anticipation that the budget would stimulate economic activities, generate job opportunities, and improve the overall socio-economic landscape of the state. Furthermore, he highlighted the budget’s crucial role in assisting his government in fulfilling its campaign promises and meeting its obligations to the citizens.

Expressing gratitude to the Speaker and Members of the House of Assembly for their comprehensive examination of the budget and the subsequent preparation of the final version, the Governor acknowledged the Assembly as a dependable partner in the state’s development agenda.

The Deputy Governor, Chief (Monisade Afuye), along with members of the state House of Assembly and the state executive council, were also present to witness the budget signing.
